Good Mourning Children’s Program

Your grieving child experiences his or her loss in so many ways.

He needs to understand what happened.
She experiences profound upheaval in her everyday life - in the people and
routines she relies on.
He may feel sad, angry, lonely, withdrawn or unfocused.
She may act as if nothing has happened.
He will yearn for the person he misses and wish that everything could be the way
it used to be.

What can you do to help?

Call the Good Mourning Program for Children, Teens and Families at 847-692-8885

Together we will explore how to provide the very best help for your children and your family. Through monthly and weekly support groups, special events, and the Grief In School outreach program you and your children will receive helpful information, advocacy, and emotional support provided from our staff and by other families facing life-changing loss.

"We are a stronger, healthier family because we have participated in the Good Mourning support group activities... It brings real results that have made a hugely positive impact on my life and the lives of my children."
- A Good Mourning Dad

"The weekend camp experience was definitely a turning point for us...We both came out of it stronger, more at peace, and on the road to rebuilding our lives...Thank you...for all the strength, compassion, joy and most of all hope that you have shared with us." - A Good Mourning Dad

A comprehensive program providing learning opportunities and support for educators and advocacy for bereaved children and their families – professional workshops, crisis response and de-briefing, and consultation.

For every grieving child’s darkest night there is a Good Mourning.

For more than 18 years, Good Mourning has been the longest-running and most comprehensive bereavement support program for children and families in the entire Chicagoland area. This past year LOSS (Loving Outreach to Survivors of Suicide, the largest program in the Chicago area providing service to families who have survived the suicide of a parent, spouse, child, or sibling) named Good Mourning as its designated provider of services for dependent children.

The Good Mourning Team consists of experienced, licensed professionals and peer counselors who believe in the resilience of children and the strength of families. If you or a family you know has experienced a significant loss through death, and would like to investigate the kinds of help available, please call: 847-692-8885.
