General Grief

 

 

 Sunday, July 26; 2:00 pm

Interfaith Memorial Service is a prayer service for family and friends whose loved ones were served by

Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care and/or who participate in our Adult Grief Groups.  All community

bereaved who wish to remember their loved ones are welcome.  Registration requested. 

Held at:  Edison Park Lutheran Church, 6626 N. Oliphant Ave., Chicago

 

Wednesday, July 22; 7:00 - 9:00 pm

The Gifts of Grief Workshop is a film that chronicles the grief experience of seven individuals who have lost spouses, partners, friends, parents, and children. Discussion will follow the video.  Registration required. 

Fee:  $15.00

Held at:  St. Cecilia’s Parish, 700 S. Meier Rd (corner of Golf and Meier Roads), Mount Prospect
 

Sibling Loss

 
Saturdays, June 27, July 11 & 25, August 15 & 29, September 12; 10:00 - 11:30 am

Adult Loss of Sibling is a six-session group for adults grieving the loss of a sibling.  Registration required.

Fee: $90.00 for 6 sessions.

Held at: Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care, 444 N. Northwest Hwy., Park Ridge

Note:  The six-session group of Adult Loss of Sibling for the fall quarter will begin September 26, 2009.
 

Parental Loss

 

Thursdays, September 17 thru October 22; 7:00 - 9:00 pm

Motherloss for Adult Daughters is a six week group for women whose mothers died at any time in their lives. 

Registration required.  Fee:  $90.00 for 6 sessions.

Held at:  Glenview Community Church, 1000 Elm St., Glenview

Wednesdays, September 9 thru October 14; 7:00 - 8:30 pm

Adult Loss of Parent is a six-week group for adults grieving the loss of a parent.  Registration required.

Fee:  $90.00 for six sessions.

Held at:  Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care, 444 N. Northwest Hwy., Park Ridge
 

LGBTQ

 

 Mondays, July 13 & 27, August 10 & 24, September 14 & 28; 7:00 - 8:30 pm

LGBTQ Grief Group is a group designed to help grieving members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual,

transgender, and questioning communities to find support and information as they mourn someone they love.

Second and Fourth Monday of the month.  Registration required.  Fee:  $5.00 per session.

Held at: Center on Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted, Chicago 
 

Spousal Loss

 

Wednesdays, July 22, August 26, September 23; 1:00-2:30 pm

Holding Onto Hope is a monthly daytime group for widowed persons who are grieving the loss of a spouse. 

Fourth Wednesday of the month.  Registration required.  Fee:  $5.00 per session.

Held at: Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care, 444 N. Northwest Hwy., Suite 145, Park Ridge

 

 Tuesdays, July 14 & 28, August 11 & 25, September 8 & 22; 7:00 – 8:30 pm

Widowed Support Group is an ongoing support group that addresses the losses faced by persons, as a general guideline, who have been widowed less than two years.  Second and Fourth Tuesday of the month.

Fee:  $5.00 per session.

Held at: Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care, 444 N. Northwest Hwy., Suite 145, Park Ridge

 

 Tuesdays, July 14 & 28, August 11 & 25, September 8 & 22; 7:00 – 8:30 pm

Younger Widowed Support Group is an ongoing support group for younger widowed persons who are 55 years of age or younger and/or have dependent children at home.  Second and Fourth Tuesday of the Month. 

Fee: $5.00 per session.

Held at: Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care, 444 N. Northwest Hwy., Suite 145, Park Ridge

 

 Tuesdays, July 28, August 25, September 22; 7:00 – 8:30 pm

Life Transitions Group is an ongoing support group for those who, as a general guideline, have been widowed

for one to four years.  Fourth Tuesday of the month.  Volunteer facilitated.  Fee:  $5.00 per session.

Children’s Program

 


 

 

Mondays, July 20, August 17; 6:45 – 8:00 pm

No monthly meeting in September due to CAMP on September 19 & 20

Good Mourning Program is a monthly support group for children, teens, and families who have lost a loved

one through death. 

Young Adult Grief Support Group is for  18 - 25 year olds who are grieving the loss of someone important in their life. 

Preliminary interview required prior to registration.  Third Monday of the month.

Held at:  Lutheran General Family Care Center, 9375 Church St., Des Plaines
 

Polish Bereavement

 


 

 

Sobota, 8 - go sierpnia; 10:00 - 12:00 rano

Zrozumieć żałobę: Jak pomóc rodzinie, przyjaciołom, sąsiadom i współpracownikom dotkniętym śmiercią bliskiej osoby?  Terapeuta do spraw żałoby wyjaśni proces zachodzący po stracie bliskich i udzieli informacji, a także praktycznych porad na temat pomocy i wsparcia, jakiego potrzebują osoby w żałobie.

Saturday, August 8; 10:00 am - 12:00 noon

Understanding Grief:  How to Help Family, Friends, Neighbors, Co-Workers is a workshop for Polish

speakers interested in learning how to help others through bereavement.  A Bereavement Counselor will give

practical suggestions and answer questions from the participants.

Held at:  Polish Christian Center, 3020 N. Austin, Chicago
 

 

Fees for workshops and groups are listed.  If you cannot pay the full fee, we ask that you pay an amount which does not cause a hardship for you.  Fees waived for family/ loved ones of Rainbow Hospice patients.
