Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care Bereavement Services

Fees for workshops and groups are listed.  If you cannot pay the full fee, we ask that you pay an amount which does not cause a hardship for you.  Fees are waived for family/loved ones of Rainbow Hospice patients.

 

 

General Grief:

 Sunday, January 29; 2:00 pm

Interfaith Memorial Service is a prayer service for family and friends whose loved ones were served by Rainbow Hospice and/or who participate in our Grief Groups.  All community bereaved who wish to remember their loved ones are welcome.  Registration requested. 

Held at:  St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 700 S. Meier Rd., Mount Prospect

 

Saturday, January 14; 10:30 am – 12:00 noon

Learning About Grief  is a general grief support workshop for newly bereaved adults who are grieving the loss of a loved one.  It will be an informal gathering for the purpose of education, support and renewal. 

Registration required.   Fee:  $15.00

Held at:  Park Ridge Nonprofit Center, 720 Garden St., Park Ridge

 

Tuesday, February 7; 7:00 – 8:30 pm

The Gifts of Grief Workshop is a film that chronicles the grief experience of seven individuals who lost a spouse, partner, friend, parent and/or child.  Discussion will follow the film.  Registration required. Fee: $15.00

Held at:  Rainbow Hospice & Palliative Care, 1550 Bishop Court, Mount Prospect

 

Tuesday, March 6; 6:30 – 8:30 pm

Labyrinth Path through Grief Workshop.  By mindfully walking the labyrinth, participants will connect with this ancient symbol of wholeness.  It provides a transformative journey to one’s own center and back out into the world.  The labyrinth is a mirror of our grief journey where the way in is the way out.  

Space is limited.  Registration required.   Fee:  $15.00

Saturday, March 24; 10:00 am –12:00 noon

Memory Box Workshop:  Participants will explore emotions related to the loss of a loved one while constructing a memorial/memory box.  Materials will be provided.  Participants are encouraged to bring photos and/or small objects to be placed in the box upon completion.  Registration required.  Fee:  $15.00

Polish Speaking:

Saturdays, January 14, February 11, March 10; 1:00 – 2:30 pm

An on-going support group for Polish-speaking bereaved who lost a loved one during the past two years will meet the second Saturday of each month.  For additional information or to register (in Polish), please call 847-292-2342.

 

Grupa wsparcia dla osób, które straciły bliskich w przeciagu ostatnich dwóch lat. Spotkania odbywają się w drugą sobotę miesiąca od 1:00 po południu do 2:30 (13:00-14:30) w biurze Hospicjum Tęcza przy 1550 Bishop Court, Mount Prospect, Illinois 60056. Parental Loss:

Tuesdays, February 21 & 28, March 13, 20, 27, April 3; 7:00 – 8:30 pm

Adult Loss of Parent  is a six-week group for adults grieving the loss of a parent.  Registration required. 

Fee:  $90.00 for 6 sessions.

Held at:  Rainbow Hospice & Palliative Care, 1550 Bishop Court, Mount Prospect

 


Sibling Loss:

Saturdays, January 7 & 21, February 4 & 18, March 3 & 17; 10:00 – 11:30 am

Adult Loss of Sibling is a six-week group for adults grieving the loss of a sibling.  Registration required. 

Fee:  $90.00 for 6 sessions. 

Held at:  Park Ridge Nonprofit Center, 720 Garden St., Park Ridge

 


LGBT

Mondays, January 9 & 23, February 13 & 27, March 12 & 26; 7:00 - 8:30 pm

LGBT Grief Group is an ongoing support group designed to help grieving members of the lesbian, gay,

bisexual, and transgender communities to find support and information as they mourn the death of someone they love.   Second and Fourth Mondays of the month.   Registration required.  Fee:  $5.00 per session.

Held at:  Center on Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted, Chicago


 

Spousal Loss:

Wednesdays, January 25, February 22, March 28; 1:00 - 2:30 pm

Holding Onto Hope is a monthly day-time group for widowed persons 55 years of age and older who are grieving the loss of a spouse.   Fourth Wednesday of the month.  Registration required.  Fee:  $5.00 per session.

Held at:  Park Ridge Nonprofit Center, 720 Garden St., Park Ridge

 

Tuesdays, January 24, February 14 & 28, March 13 & 27, April 10; 7:00 – 8:30 pm

Life After Loss is a six-week support group for widowed persons who are 55 years of age or younger who have been widowed for less than two years.  Registration Required.  Fee:  $40.00 for 6 sessions

Held at:  Park Ridge Nonprofit Center, 720 Garden St., Park Ridge

 

 Tuesdays, January 10 & 24, February 14 & 28, March 13 & 27; 7:00 – 8:30 pm

Widowed Support Group is an ongoing support group that addresses the losses faced by persons, as a general guideline, who have been widowed less than two years.  Second and Fourth Tuesday of the month.

Fee:  $5.00 per session.

Held at:  Park Ridge Nonprofit Center, 720 Garden St., Park Ridge

 

 Tuesdays, January 24, February 28, March 27; 7:00 – 8:30 pm

Life Transitions Group is an ongoing support group for those who, as a general guideline, have been widowed for one to four years.  Fourth Tuesday of the month.  Volunteer facilitated.  Fee:  $5.00 per session.

Held at:  Park Ridge Nonprofit Center, 720 Garden St., Park Ridge

 


Children’s Program:

Mondays, January 16, February 20, March 19; 6:45 – 8:00 pm

Good Mourning Program is a monthly support group for children, teens, young adults and families (including a Spanish speaking adult group) who have lost a loved one through death. 

Preliminary interview required prior to registration. Third Monday of the month.
