Rainbow Hospice Appoints Amy Frazier to
Director of Clinical Operations Position
Amy L. Frazier, RN, BSN, MS and CCM, is now serving as Director of Clinical Operations at Rainbow Hospice. In that position, she makes use of her clinical, administrative and leadership experience as she directs the activities of the nursing, social work, spiritual care and volunteer services staffs.
“Rainbow Hospice is fortunate to have a professional with the
depth of clinical knowledge that Amy offers. Her extensive background
in case management means that she will help enhance the holistic care that
Rainbow Hospice provides to its patients and their families,” says Patricia
Ahern, President/Executive Director.
Frazier earned her diploma in nursing from James Ward Thorne
School of Nursing, affiliated with Northwestern University; her Bachelor
of Science in Nursing Magna Cum Laude from St. Xavier College,
Chicago; and her Master of Science in Health Services Administration
with distinction at the College of St. Francis, Joliet.
Before joining Rainbow Hospice, she served as Manager for the
Medical Management/Large Case Management group of Gallagher Benefit
Administrators, Lisle, IL, for six years. While there, she built new case
management models based on clinical specialties, established quality
assurance standards and reduced staff turnover.
Prior to that, she served as Director, Individual and Group Health,
Long-Term-Care Case Management for Carespan/Novaeon in Lombard
and Chicago, where she established an independent case management
operation, developed formulas to perform cost-benefit analysis and
increased patient roster by 75 percent in one year.
She has also held nursing and nursing management positions at
Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Michael Reese Health Plan, Illinois
Masonic Medical Center and Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
“From my experience in case management, I understand the
dimension added to case management by incorporating a multi-disciplinary
approach. At Rainbow Hospice, the addition of music therapists, home
health aides, a staff pharmacist, medical director, chaplains and
bereavement counselors offers our patients a richer experience than I
imagined,” says Frazier.
Rainbow Hospice is a nonprofit organization serving terminally
ill patients and their families in Chicago and surrounding counties.
Hospice care emphasizes a holistic approach including pain and
symptom management, nursing, social services and spiritual care.
In addition, Rainbow Hospice offers the Good Mourning program
for bereaved children, teens and their families as well as a Community
Speakers Bureau. More information is available by calling
847-685-9900 or by visiting www.rainbowhospice.org .
