Comfort Care Volunteer

Description: People willing to select one-two 12-hour on-call days each month to be available for patients who are actively dying and their families. Car generally necessary since you may be asked to go anywhere in the Rainbow Hospice service area.

Day(s) Needed: On-call availability one to two days per month from 8 am-8 pm. Days are of the volunteer’s choosing and can be changed month to month. Expectation is visits of about four hours duration if there is a call for comfort care services.

Time(s) Needed:  

Scheduled Training Dates: Training in listening skills, bereavement and spiritual care issues provided on a periodic basis for those who have some experience visiting with patients, sick parishioners, etc.
