Bereavement Outreach Volunteer
Description: Provide periodic follow-up phone support to newly bereaved people who have had a loved one die in Rainbow’s care. Volunteers provide a sounding board for those dealing with grief issues, reassurance through the grief process and suggestions for other community resources as appropriate. Also attend a once-a-month evening support meeting to discuss related issues.
Day(s) Needed: Any
Time(s) Needed: Calls are made at the mutual convenience of volunteers and newly bereaved persons. Monthly meeting is a 90-minute commitment.
Scheduled Training Dates: Attendance at one monthly meeting (first Tuesday each month, 7-8:30 pm) followed by individualized training by Rainbow bereavement counselor and volunteer coordinator.
